Re: 15yr old stabbed to death Collier Row
Sad news. I lived in Collier Row from 76/01. Go back quite a bit to see the folks, but fuck me the place is rotten. Personally I think it died when Woolies went and the Wimpy changed hands.

As a side note I watched the euro 96 semi final in a pub in Collier Row. Well, I was watching it but after we scored the screen went down because it was too hot. By the time we got back to my girlfriend's house the Germans had equalised.

Collier Row has always been a little too near Harold Hill.

I left in 1988.

I used to live in Carter Drive as a kid.

I know a lot of older lot as well. Played football for the Charcoal and the Pinewoods.

After watching that YouTube, I mean, they're not exactly the Beatles are they. Is this what this fucking country's come to?

Oh good, another thread spoilt by petty arguing and point scoring whilst posts of genuine interest like that of Pilly are completely lost in the rabble.

Only on WHO.

'PC plod is not going through be highly interested in your little tool anyway'

I'll ignore the jest at the expense of my member and ask, 'how the fuck do you know whether Mr Plod will be interested in my tool'? After all, as you yourself said earlier, one of the main reasons for this law is so he can bang me up for a bit and fit me up at his leisure. Perhaps for that unsolved stabbing that happened a couple of miles away last month.

You've gone from "no one has any reason to carry a knife in a city" to "hmmm some knives are OK and some aren't".

Progress, I suppose.

Re: 15yr old stabbed to death Collier Row
I'm currently working in London. On the train every morning there are loads of blokes carrying tool bags. Some of these tools may very well be some type of knife. From my time on building sites, bringing your own tools and taking them home every day just what some people prefer doing, saves the risk of them getting nicked if they're left at work. Driving to and from work in a van in London can be a right pain in the arse, so literally millions of people take public transport instead.

These "no one has any reason to carry a knife"-inspired measures people are calling for will put these lot in a bit of an awkward position wouldn't they? How are you all proposing that this predicament is resolved or got around? Serious question.

Meanwhile, here's some footage of the gang that this lad in Collier Row hung around with. Think he's meant to be the third one in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmqL1yyOi2Y

I mean they don't seem the type to be put off carrying something because some law somewhere tells them they're not allowed to, do they? They're literally bragging about committing violent crimes on the internet. And I'd bet the police know exactly who everyone in that video is. So that's where the solution lies.

Not in bringing in draconian, totalitarian measures which will unfairly fuck up life for everyone else.

Your pruning knife is fine as it is a folding blade and most likely underr the required length of legality. As stated before, PC plod is not going through be highly interested in your little tool anyway, moreso teenagers running around the suburbs with carving knives

I'm sorry you don't understand the word. I don't think there's anything I can do for you other than that?

'I'm sure your pruning knife that you just made up is fine too Surface.'

On what basis are you claiming my pruning knife is imaginery, Anon. And more to the point, what difference would it make if it was? Have you read a detailed investigation that shows that nobody EVER goes round to a friend or relative's house to do a spot of gardening? If so, post up a link, there's a good lad.

Yes, mate. I don't understand what your use of the word 'routinely' is supposed to add to your point, other than to try to muddy the waters, of course.

It doesn't matter if you carry knives 'routinely' (whatever that means precisely) or not. If you carry them ever, you are liable to be nicked. Which is very splendid, of course, because, as Mr Anon says, this will enable the police to bang you up for a few hours with no hope whatsoever of a conviction unless they can manufacture one.

Re: 15yr old stabbed to death Collier Row
I live in Collier Row (always have done, went Clockhouse and Forest Lodge).

Drove past the Community Centre about 8ish on Saturday night and it was double obvious it was going to kick off. Literally 2/300 kids trying to get in the door of the place. Bouncers not having it. They was all standing in the road, blocking traffic etc.

Hour later my mate phoned me and said there was about 40 kids legging it down his road being chased by the old bill.

Had a mate who was drinking in the bar in the there as well. Said the kids wasn't allowed in as it was an U16s party the needed adults with them. As they wasn't allowed in they started trying to smash the door down and do the windows. Then they all started fighting each other outside, said his never seen so many knives pulled out.

Re: 15yr old stabbed to death Collier Row
What facts have you presented? All I can see is a stream of totally unrealistic and incorrect statements. There are loads of legitimate reasons for someone to carry a knife in a city. To suggest otherwise isn't a "fact", it's total bullshit, I'm afraid.

Mr Anon 7:45 Mon Jun 25
Re: 15yr old stabbed to death Collier Row
You can still carry a Swiss army knife so don't worry Mashed, just like you don't worry about the facts.

I'm sure your pruning knife that you just made up is fine too Surface.
